The Woodland Avenue Corridor and Rail Crossing Review was undertaken in the City of Beaconsfield to address longstanding operational and multi-modal safety challenges around the Beaurepaire Exo Station. The study corridor includes four closely spaced intersections including two Autoroute 20 access ramps, and two active railway  crossings, sidewalks and limited cycling infrastructure, owned by four separate stakeholders.

The study identified misaligned approaches, significant queuing, and driver non-compliance with rail traffic and pre‑emption causing significant delays at times. Several improvements were recommended that considered cost, potential implementation timelines, and the complexities of navigating the improvements with each stakeholder.  

The improvements include new pedestrian signal heads, streamlining of pedestrian spaces, dedicated cycling infrastructure, lane designation signage, and geometric modifications. These improvements also took into account the proximity of the highway ramps and traffic circulation throughout the City.  Three design options were provided to the City for their consideration.
