As cities expand their active transportation networks, ensuring that cycling and pedestrian infrastructure is designed for both functionality and maintainability remains a critical challenge. This presentation explores best practices in designing active transportation projects that account for the unique demands of summer and winter maintenance. The presentation will provide insights into how the City of Toronto selects materials and sets design guidance to improve long-term performance and ensure AAA complete streets.
