Abstract | The City of Victoria is undertaking a omprehensive review of its streets and networks to align with future needs, mobility best practices, and public realm goals. This effort responds to provincial bills aimed at unlocking more housing capacity in Victoria. The goal was to refine development requirements, improve clarity for private and City-led initiatives, and ensure alignment with the Official Community Plan objectives. The updated street classifications and cross-sections focus on enhancing multi-modal transportation options rather than widening roads for general vehicle use. The intention is to repurpose street rights-of-way to support diverse transportation modes and public realm enhancements. Street classifications are tested to ensure compatibility with anticipated building typologies, densities, and the City’s public realm vision. Changes to street classifications include:
