Title | The "Oltimate" Digital Twin Approach - Introducing The Science of Oltimatics |
Abstract | Governments, operators and maintenance providers are tasked with the challenge of making the right decisions to improve, maintain and operate critical infrastructure. While large budgets can be provided to build and expand infrastructure, maintenance is typically under-budgeted. The ratio of transportation assets which are to be maintained vs the limited resources which are allocated to assess, maintain and operate them pose a serious challenge, which is amplified by ongoing developments, wear and tear, environmental conditions and human factors. Candid discussions with infrastructure owners and operators reveal that, in truth, the unknown far exceeds the known. Therefore, expert judgement (subjectively) or events (complaints or political pressure) typically determine the work needed. Digital twin projects, especially for vast transportation assets such as roads and related assets, are conducted rarely (every 2 to 8 years, if at all) and at high costs. The digital twin projects, when conducted, may provide a momentary snapshot; however, maintaining the quality of the data requires additional surveys or resources. The end result is, that the data is often time only used for budgeting but not for operational work. Recent groundbreaking developments in geospatial science and artificial intelligence, open a new and exciting opportunity to change the status quo using an emerging area of research called Oltimatics, developed by CITYROVER. Oltimatics refers to Objective, Location, Time and Information. Launched in 2024, CITYROVER’S patented surveying in-vehicle cameras were enhanced with new Oltimatic algorithms, which allow the fleet of AI-enabled vehicles to collect data for multiple survey types simultaneously. The fleet cameras buzz along the roads with hive-mentality to collect precisely the information needed for specified survey objectives, locations and times. The efficient flow of information, analyzed efficiently with different AIs, provides for an unprecedented level of awareness, and new areas of innovation which are starting to transform the way in which surveys and asset management is conducted. In this presentation, we will discuss key topics related to the oltimatic technology and we will be joined by the City of (TBD) to demonstrate new capabilities which are available for a new era of digital twins. We will demonstrate how different types of data collected from intelligent fleets are assembled to provide complete and current awareness of infrastructure. We will also demonstrate a variety of AI applications which demonstrate tangible use cases in asset management and surveying. |
Presentation Description (for App) | This presentation will unveil CITYROVER's new form of digital twins for transportation infrastructure and related assets, powered by Olitmatic algorithms. The presentation will include overview of the data collection system, high level overview of Oltimatics, sample application of AI algorithms for different surveys, and demonstration by the City of (TBD). |
