Session Title CC - Climate Vulnerability and Resilience: Getting Out in Front
Title How Standards Can Support Climate-Resilient Transportation Infrastructure
Abstract

Climate change is altering the conditions under which we build infrastructure, perform work, maintain structures and buildings, transport goods, produce and deliver products and services, and source raw materials. Standards guide how goods are produced and used, how services are designed and delivered, how infrastructure is constructed and how testing is conducted.

To ensure standards are developed in a way that considers the impacts of a changing climate, the Standards Council of Canada has established the Standards to Support Resilience in Infrastructure Program (SSRIP). This presentation will be a discussion of SSRIP with a focus on its Transportation Stream, which was established to develop standardization solutions specifically aimed at reinforcing the resilience of transportation infrastructure in Canada. Topics discussed will include identified priorities for standardization in Canadian transportation, and will highlight opportunities for individuals within the transportation industry to engage in the development and/or update of climate-informed standards for transportation in Canada.

Presentation Description (for App) My presentation will include a PowerPoint deck that provides an overview of SCC's SSRIP program, with a focus on transportation-related topics that have been identified as priorities.
