Title LRT Rolling Stock Market in Canadian Rail Transit: A Historical and Analytical Perspective
Abstract

This paper examines the historical procurement patterns of rolling stock in Canadian rail transit, focusing on Light Rail Transit (LRT) and tram systems across five major cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, and Toronto. Over the past five decades, procurement activities have exhibited cyclical trends, often peaking in the latter half of each decade. By analyzing procurement data and exploring influencing factors such as economic conditions, technological advancements, and policy decisions, this study provides insights into the determinants of rolling stock procurement and offers recommendations for future planning.
