Session Title CV - Connected Vehicle Technologies and Infrastructure
Title Empowering Road Users with Geospatial Information
Abstract or description

Connected vehicle capability is limited by the relatively simple information that is currently available. Road users, including connected vehicles, can benefit from a detailed geospatial representation of the local infrastructure which includes an accurate map of all possible multi-modal traversals through an upcoming intersection with potential conflict zones, real-time traffic signal status and projected movement congestion.

This presentation will explore what kind of information can be shared between road users and infrastructure, and what benefits may be unlocked. We will also evaluate how local road authorities and municipalities can generate and distribute this geospatial information at scale with minimal overhead. Finally, we will examine what is required from a communication, standards and resourcing standpoint to make this practical and sustainable.
