Session Title AM - Cost-Effective Asset Condition Data Collection and Monitoring
Title The future of pavement management and maintenance using continuous scan and artificial intelligence
Abstract or description

This information session will cover a Canadian developed AI technology which simultaneously supports  road maintenance operations (for example, pothole detection and resolution), together with streamlined pavement condition assessments.

Municipalities and local governments face a number of different challenges due to a shortage of resources, such as funding and labour. Despite this, with growing population, every year, there is an expectation to accomplish more, including servicing a constantly expanding road networks and aging infrastructure. To accomplish this, municipalities are turning to newly developed technologies and establishing new best practices that can help to streamline their road infrastructure assessment and maintenance workflows.

The CITYROVER technology is a Canadian made AI technology which is being advanced at an accelerated rate through ambitious collaboration initiatives with Canadian cities coast-to-coast. With four years in operational use, the technology already helps Canadian cities representing 11% of Canada’s population to provide proactive maintenance services in a sustainable manner.

The latest generation of the smart camera technology is easily deployed in any vehicle and provides a completely automated way to identify pavement hazards (such as potholes), incidents (for example, dumping of garbage), and even data collection for pavement assessment, and relevant metrics, such as Pavement Condition Index reports. With the unique edge AI technology, 99% of the data processing occurs within the device itself. After proper installation, any municipal vehicle can begin collecting data as soon as they begin their drive.

In this presentation, the presenters will be briefly introducing the base technology and its use and impact across Canada to date. They will also demonstrate the new continuous pavement inspection technology and how it changes the way in which pavement deterioration is monitored, assessed and modeled. The session will also involve a speaker from the City of [TBD, we have a few partner cities in Vancouver area], which will share the municipal perspective in the use of AI for pavement maintenance and management.

For illustrative purposes, CITYROVER will be using a slideshow presentation that will contain various multimedia components for a more comprehensive and engaging demonstration of the smart camera system and its functions. At the end of the presentation, speakers will be available for a question and answer session with the attendees.

Presentation Description (for Conference App) This information session featuring the City of TBD will discuss the CityROVER AI technology and its capability of simultaneously supporting Canadian municipalities' road maintenance operations and conducting pavement assessments through continuous scanning.
