Session Title CV - Connected Vehicle Technologies and Infrastructure
Title Multimodal Connected Vehicle Pilot
Abstract or description

Arcadis has been retained by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to procure, install, test, operate, and maintain connected vehicle equipment and applications for 31 signalized intersections in the city of Raleigh via Design-Build. The goal of this pilot is to improve operations and safety for all road users. This consists of a 1-year procurement, installation, and testing period, followed by a 2-year evaluation and refinement period. Equipment being installed includes traffic signal controllers, roadside units (RSUs), onboard units (OBUs), video detection for both vehicles and pedestrians, and cellular modems. Connected vehicle applications being deployed include pedestrian in signalized crosswalk warning (PSCW), transit signal priority (TSP), and signal phase and timing (SPaT). These applications will primarily be available via mobile application. A public outreach program will also be carried out to gather user input and feedback, which will be used to refine the deployed equipment and applications.
