Session Title TO - Next-Generation Mobility
Title Next Generation Cloud-Based Vehicle-To-Infrastructure System for City of Ottawa
Abstract

In 2016, Audi launched the Traffic Light Information (TLI) service, an industry-first vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) service available to customers.  Since this time, the TLI system has matured to include all vehicles sold in North America and has been added to other brands within the Volkswagen Group.  In Canada, TLI service was launched with Tier 1 supplier, Traffic Technology Services, Inc. (TTS), in the City of Ottawa and has since expanded into City of Winnipeg and City of Toronto.

This presentation will focus on a couple aspects of the TTS connected vehicle V2I ecosystem that provides benefits back to the City of Ottawa, traffic signal performance metrics (SPMs) from the Audi fleet and virtual demand feedback. This connected vehicle ecosystem requires various collaboration from the infrastructure owner/operators (IOO), tier 1 supplier, and the automotive OEM, setting the framework for connected vehicle partnerships.

Details of the connected vehicle V2I technologies, architecture, production of SPMs, and considerations for a virtual demand system will be shared from the Tier 1s perspective, while the the City of Ottawa will share how the V2I technologies are being implemented to address needs and improve transportation systems management and operations (TSMO).  Lessons learned, challenges and opportunities, and value propositions will be discussed to support connected vehicle V2I technologies and deployments.

Presentation Description (max. 50 words) This presentation will summarize a connected vehicle ecosystem involving IOO, Tier 1 service provider, and automotive OEM applications, which has been expanded from a one-way flow to connected vehicle applications to value-added information and services coming back into the City of Ottawa.
