How animals can help calm the nervous system and provide experiences of safe connection and attachment. You will learn about the things animals can bring to the table that humans cannot. And we will discuss how to help the people you work with find the right animal companion that matches their needs best. An overview of the Capstone canine companion therapy program for teen boys and young men will be presented. The second half of the workshop will discuss yoga and its therapeutic uses. The misconception that you need to be 'flexible' to do yoga is a great disservice. This training is for everyBODY to experientially learn the power of mindfulness, breath and movement. Learn how these simple practices of turning in and tuning in to the body can calm the nervous system, promote healthier thinking, and develop self-compassion; we'll discuss how these tools are particularly helpful for relapse prevention in all stages of recovery. You can expect to gain skills for yourself and the knowledge to share those skills with your clients.

Workshop Type

Prevention
Recovery
Treatment

Workshop Length

3 Hour

 "}
