Issue/Objective The Canadian Conference for Global Health (CCGH) is the largest gathering of global health researchers, practitioners, policymakers, advocates, students, and community mobilizers in Canada. It serves as a unique platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and advancing global health solutions, both in-person and online. During my practicum, I worked within the CCGH awards and monitoring and evaluation teams, where we launched a call for awards nominations, and developed a comprehensive framework designed to assess the conference's impact and effectiveness, with the goal of applying it to future CCGH events.
Methodology/Approach A monitoring and evaluation framework was developed in collaboration with CCGH's various working teams to identify key performance indicators aligned with the conference's objectives. A logic model and performance measurement framework (PMF) were created to guide data collection, establish baselines, and set targets. Based on the identified indicators, a 28-question survey was designed to evaluate the conference's success across multiple dimensions of engagement, learning, and impact.
Results Data collected through the monitoring and evaluation framework will be analyzed following the conference and synthesized into a comprehensive report to inform future planning and continuous improvement.
Discussion/Conclusion The monitoring and evaluation framework emphasizes the importance of accountability, evidence-informed decision-making, and continuous learning, while also addressing past implementation challenges and identifying opportunities to enhance future conferences.
